Every second Wednesday of the month at noon is the meeting for the Kern River Valley Chamber of Commerce in Lake Isabella. Everyone is welcome and invited to attend. This month’s meeting was held at the 178 Bar and Grill on Lake Isabella Boulevard.

This month’s special guest speaker was Karrie Bunting, probate attorney, who gave invaluable information about wills, trusts and conservatorships. Next month’s speaker will be Cynthia Zimmer, Kern County District Attorney.

Fred Clark, president of the KRV Chamber, opened the meeting and welcomed the attendees. Karene Williams said she just spoke with the owner of Red’s Kern Valley Marina located at 9651 Hwy 178 and found out that there would be no charge to park to go eat at the marina. People were concerned that they would have to pay day-use fees just to go eat.

Williams also told everyone about the Vaccination, Spay and Neuter workshop that SOS Dog Rescue will hold at Tank Park May 7 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Senior Citizens, Inc., along with the VFW, will be holding their first fishing trip on May 7 in the newly modified wheelchair boat that Crosby and Fitzgerald made. They are still seeking fishing gear donations too.

Orion Sanders, president of the Kernville Chamber, gave a list of their upcoming events, previously listed in the Kern Valley Sun and on the chamber’s website.

Clark reported on the exciting opening weekend of the fishing derby. Ninety tags have already been landed but there are still plenty out there to catch. One fish landed weighed 9.46 pounds. All children under the age of 15 who sign up for $15 get more than $30 worth of fishing gear for free. Photos are posted on the Kern River Valley Facebook page.

Clark spoke briefly about the donations for fireworks for the Fourth of July. He specifically wanted to thank the Grocery Outlet Bargain Market that has been raising money for the fireworks.

Lunch was served and attendees ate while Bunting, the guest speaker, talked about trusts and probate matters. She also answered questions from the audience.
